Early Years Foundation Stage
We have five classes in our Reception year. Each class has a class teacher and a teaching assistant as well as additional members of staff to support the children further.
Our Early Years and Foundation stage curriculum is based on the EYFS profile and Development Matters. We incorporate the children’s interests through various themes ensuring that the curriculum combines learning both in and outside of the classroom.
Children experience exciting learning opportunities, for example in past years, children have been involved in designing and making animal sculptures using wood, developing their knowledge about authors through creating their own books as well as writing wonderfully imaginative stories based on innovative clay gardens they had created.
Mathematical skills are developed through problem solving, for example finding out how tall their broad bean plants have grown as well as developing early forms of addition and subtraction through play based experiences.
Do come and talk to us to find out about the numerous learning experiences taking place the Reception, or even better if you are an existing parent/carer come in and join us in further developing your child’s learning opportunities!
